Your Guide to Maine Condos and Apartments

Similar to renting a vacation home, you can also stay at a privately owned condominium or apartment in Maine. Vacationing at a condo or apartment in Maine is typically more affordable than renting a vacation home. Even though a condo or apartment has less square footage than a house rental, you still have all the convenient amenities of a home away from home – kitchen, living area, private bedrooms, and often a balcony or deck, even laundry facilities. Condos and apartments can be on the beach, a Maine lake, within walking distance to a seaside village, or located on the slopes of a Maine ski resort. Condos and apartments are usually  located within a complex with others, so you may even have access to a swimming pool, fitness center, barbeque area or playground.

Staying in a condo or apartment is ideal for families or couples sharing the space; and splitting the expense, you have more space than a hotel or motel room, but not the responsibility of an entire house. From your condo rental, you can plan excursions, sailing tours, or trips to the beach with the kids during the day, and enjoy returning to your spacious place after. Staying in a condo during your Maine getaway or vacation provides just enough extra room, and you save money with the option to cook in and to accommodate several people in private bedrooms. Of course if you’re in a party of two, downsizing to a condo or apartment is a great option as opposed to renting an entire vacation home.

Renting a condo or apartment in Maine is similar to renting a vacation home in many ways. In contrast to lodging in a hotel or motel, you get the home away from home feel on your weekend getaway or vacation. With vacation rentals, you have the independence of making your own meals, inviting guests or friends in the area to your rental, and you don’t have to worry about maid services cleaning your room while you’re out enjoying your vacation in town (which may be a concern for some).

Typically, vacation home rentals have more square footage for sun rooms, balconies, full kitchens, living rooms, dining room, and bedrooms whereas condos may not give you the entire floor plan of a large luxury rental home.

However, this also means that you’re saving more renting a condo or apartment for your vacation and you can split the cost of rent when you invite friends or family while still getting the extra benefits of a full kitchen, laundry facilities, several bedrooms and a dining area. There are of course, bonuses when you stay at a resort condominium where you get the full spectrum of amenities including pools, hot tubs, game rooms, gas grilling barbecue areas or fitness centers.

You can find many condos and apartments throughout the state of Maine especially dotting along the coast. Condos and apartments in Maine can range from penthouse apartments in the heart of Portland to condos in Wells with beautiful ocean views from a balcony, beachfront apartments, lakeside condos, or resort condominiums with all the amenities of a ski resort or ocean property.

Similar to staying at a resort, many condominiums offer front desk services where you can ask about ideas on local tourist attractions, directions to department stores, or where to dine out.

While many hotels and lodges in along the Maine coast typically have minimum stay requirements during the peak of summer, vacation condo rentals and apartments may have minimum stay requirements regardless of time of year. However, when vacationing in Maine, wouldn’t you like to stay a little longer, maybe even forever?
